WOW Insider
Dimoroc created Here Without You a long time ago. This YouTube version has been present since March 2006. That makes Here Without You one of the oldest videos we're revisiting. It also feels appropriate to Valentine's Day, considering its angsty, retrospective consideration of the romantic condition.

"This is the first machinima video I ever watched," Anne Stickney said about Here Without You, "and it completely made me fall in love with the whole machinima thing." It's easy to see why the video would inspire interest in the medium. Despite being filmed mostly in game with rudimentary graphics, Here Without You is focused on a character and his story. The plot's a bit hackneyed nowadays, but it was original when it was contemporary.

Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.

Microsoft's Kinect motion addon for the Xbox 360 has been a huge success, not only in the retail world but in the hacker community as well. We've seen some awesome mods for the Kinect in the past few months of its release -- and finally, we've combined the Kinect world with WoW. The USC Institute for Creative Technologies has released a program called FAAST (Flexible Action and Articulated Skeleton Toolkit) that allows the Kinect to be used as a controller for off-the-shelf games.

Check out the video of Kinect being used to control a World of Warcraft character. The software emulator acts as a layer over the keyboard, reading movement as key presses. Personally, I love that the depth sensors of the Kinect can be used to move backwards and forwards by leaning forward and back. So awesome.

Hmm

The Wowhead Blog
How's the Cataclysm been treating you guys so far? The expansion added a ton of new things to do, including new dungeons to run, quests to complete, raid encounters to defeat, items to craft and otherwise acquire. Despite all of those substantially more "important" things, a new secondary profession was added, available to players who have purchased the expansion.

Archaeology lures players to spend the substantial amount of time grinding out digsites and completing artifacts with promises of odd, quirky and even downright amazing blue and epic quality items. Other secondary professions offer an expected, substantial benefit, such as the valuable food buffs obtained by Cooking and Fishing, and who doesn't love being able to bandage? But Archaeology is a bit different.

Read on for Archaeology information, including lists of all of the rare artifacts, and my own personal impressions of the profession!

WOW Insider
Every Monday and Thursday, WoW Insider brings you Scattered Shots for beast mastery, marksmanship and survival hunters. Each week, Frostheim of Warcraft Hunters Union uses logic and science (mixed with a few mugs of dwarven stout) to look deep into the hunter class. Mail your hunter questions to Frostheim.

At the end of December 2009, I took over the Scattered Shots column from the esteemed Brigwyn at what was then WoW.com. Now one year and over 230 thousand words later ... a lot has happened with the hunter class.

It has been a year of massive changes, first with the non-stop information flow coming out of the beta (and alpha before that), then seeing those changes implemented in 4.0.1, and then, of course, the launch of a new expansion. Hunters changed their core resource mechanics, gave up the antiquated idea of consumable ammo, and shuffled around which spec was on top.

You could try to argue that another class has seen as much change as the hunter class has in the last year, but you'd be arguing that in the wrong place. We're hunters here -- as if the beauteous radiance of the crowd didn't alert you -- and we don't waste our valuable discussion space talking about support classes.

But of course, one year ago there weren't any big changes happening. We were blissfully ignorant of the coming storm and all eagerly awaiting the unlocking of The Plagueworks hall of Icecrown Citadel -- and oooh, Festergut looked hard! Join me after the cut for a look at the year in review for hunters, as well as my predictions for the coming year.

WOW Insider
That's right, it's time for another round of hotfixes for our game going into the last weekend of Wrath of the Lich King. So, you may ask, what's been fixed? Well, for starters, we'll take a look at some highlights. Then we'll have the complete list after the break.

Patch 4.0.3a Hotfixes
  • Players can no longer skin Crushcog Sentry-Bots or Crushcog Battle Suits in Dun Morogh... because they don't have skin.
  • Stats on the Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat have been reduced, as it can currently be equipped by players of all levels.
  • Crafty players again found a way to catch Cataclysm fish. Crafty designers have made this impossible without a Cataclysm key attached to a player's account.

There's a lot more than fishing issues to discuss, of course. But I thought those were the most amusing.

Just as a quick reminder—even though WoW's 6th anniversary was technically on November 23rd, the anniversary Feat of Strength goes into effect on November 30th!

If you're on an EU server, you can already get the WoW's 6th Anniversary achievement just by logging in right now. US servers will have to wait until midnight before the achievements go live on their servers.

If our sources are correct, you should have until December 14th to log on and get your achievement! Now that shouldn't be a problem for any of you, should it?

WOW Insider
The World of Warcraft is an expansive universe. You're playing the game, you're fighting the bosses, you know the how -- but do you know the why? Each week, Matthew Rossi and Anne Stickney make sure you Know Your Lore by covering the history of the story behind World of Warcraft.

The character Thrall has been a mainstay and a highlight figure in Warcraft lore since his first appearance in Warcraft 3 and the novel Lord of the Clans by Christie Golden. We've covered Thrall and his history before on Know Your Lore, particularly in the current orc politics article, which went over the situation with Thrall and Garrosh Hellscream. Since the release of that article, certain things have been revealed that make another short look at the former Warchief of the Horde necessary.

Thrall has always been a fascinating character to myself and many others. Originally, he seemed to be designed as a simple "true hero" for the brutal orcs to follow, a beacon of honor and integrity in an otherwise incredibly violent, savage society. With Thrall, we were introduced to an orc who had the misfortune of losing both of his parents when he was just a baby, an orc raised in slavery for the amusement of Blackmoore. But a deeper look into the character revealed several intrinsic flaws with the hero that were openly explored the further we progressed into World of Warcraft's storyline.

Please note: The following article contains spoilers for The Shattering by Christie Golden. If you'd like to remain unspoiled, veer away!

samsung galaxy tab android tablet hands on ifa berlin 2010 27 660x4954 How To: Bypass activation on your Samsung Galaxy TabThe Samsung Galaxy Tab is finding its way into the hands of hundreds of thousands of users, but since most of those purchases are from carriers, there are data plans slapped on – and some of those have contracts (like the Sprint version). However, if the Galaxy Tab just fell into your lap one fine day and it didn’t have a data plan or contract tacked onto it, there is a way to bypass the activation screen so you can use your device with Wi-Fi only.

So, how do you do it?

Here’s the code: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A. Just kidding.

To get on with your life and right past activation on your fancy new Android tablet, follow these instructions:

  1. Press “Volume Up” once.
  2. Press “Volume Down” twice.
  3. Press “Volume Up” three times.
  4. Press “Volume Down” four times.
  5. Enjoy!

Seems simple enough, right? If you’re having any trouble following those directions – whether they’re just too difficult or you’re having a hard time counting – feel free to call me any time, day or night, and I’ll walk you through it for a nominal fee.

Interested in grabbing a Samsung Galaxy Tab? Check out our thorough hands-on analysis of the device from IFA Berlin here.

Editor's Note: This walk-through was performed on a druid. There will be small differences if you play a different class. Additionally, there are spoilers contained herein.

When you begin the new troll starting zones, the narrator warns you that Vol'jin knows that Garrosh could tear the Horde apart. It will come down to cunning trolls like you to keep things on the straight and narrow. As you begin the game, Jin'thala tells you that the Darkspear have always been outcasts. But this time, you're being led by the wisdom of Vol'jin, and it's time for the Rise of the Darkspear. Vol'kin sends you off to Zen'tabra to begin your training.

Zen'Tabra likes to start things simply, so she'll help you cover The Basics: Hitting Things. All around the Darkspear training grounds are tiki-themed target dummies. Blow up six of them, using your favorite method for blowing up stuff. After this impressive display to skill, you're off to A Rough Start and have to go kill enough cats to bring Zen'Tabra six Wildmane Cat Pelts. Go kill some kitties. If the starting area is busy, it can take a while to find enough cats, so take your time.

It looks like a new patch will be hitting the live servers this week, and all indications are that this will be the moment we've all been anticipating for years. If you're trying to finish up Loremaster, capture some last-minute screenshots of your favorite zones, or enjoy Barrens chat one more time before it's split into two smaller Barrens chats, you'll probably want to do that within the next 24 hours. This is, of course, assuming that the patch gets applied on Tuesday, as per the usual schedule.

In case you have some spare time, you can check out the spell changes between the current live servers and the latest PTR patch after the break!

Highlights from "The Shattering"

  • A few minor cosmetic changes have been applied to some zones. Nothing you'll miss.
  • That class that you like to play was totally nerfed.
  • Mankrik still can't find his wife.

Sun, 21 Nov 2010 15:17:01 -0800 Pilgrim's Bounty (Nov 21 - Nov 27) Has Begun! Get Your Pilgrim Title! http://saudigamer.me/pilgrims-bounty-nov-21-nov-27-has-begun-get-y http://saudigamer.me/pilgrims-bounty-nov-21-nov-27-has-begun-get-y
The Wowhead Blog
The Pilgrim's Bounty in-game event has started! It's time once again to give thanks for what we've got before Deathwing comes and takes it all away! The event runs from November 21 to November 27 and can be celebrated in all major faction cities and many low level villages.

Remember, this is the holiday that makes leveling cooking drastically easier - and don't forget to get your Plump Turkey pet!

You can see full information on quests, achievements and more in our full guide!

http://www.wowhead.com/guide=pilgrims-bounty

Pull up a chair, grab a sizable helping of your favorite foods and prepare to reflect on the year's good tidings -- you're invited to Pilgrim's Bounty!

The festivities start this Sunday, November 21, and continue all the way through next Saturday, November 27. Try your hand at cooking, hunt down a wild turkey with friends, or throw tradition to the wind and participate in an all-out food fight. There's fun for everyone, so we hope to see you there!

Bountiful Tables
Bountiful Tables are the centerpiece of the Pilgrim's Bounty celebration. They're loaded with tasty treats and surrounded by interactive chairs that allow you to eat and share food with other players via the action bar.

A Bountiful Table is laid out with five different Pilgrim's Bounty foods, one in front of each chair. Each chair has an unlimited supply of one food, and they are conveniently labeled: The Sweet Potato Chair, The Turkey Chair, The Stuffing Chair, The Cranberry Chair, and The Pie Chair. While in a chair, you may eat as much of that food as you like, as well as pass servings of that food to other players sitting in the chairs. Share the bountiful feasts with your friends!

If you eat five helpings of any single food, you'll gain benefits unique to that food. In addition, if you eat five helpings of every food, you'll gain the Spirit of Sharing, which lasts one hour and increases all reputation gained by 10%. This is accomplished much faster if you work together with your fellow feasters at passing food to one another.

Daily Cooking Quests
Pilgrim's Bounty also plays host to a series of daily cooking quests designed to help chefs master their craft with seasonal recipes plucked from a Bountiful Cookbook. These quests require players to travel between the major cities of Azeroth and to fill the stomachs of armies with seasonal food. The reward for these quests is a Turkey Caller, a prize that ensures that the accomplished pilgrim will never go hungry again.

If you're interested in learning the Pilgrim's Bounty's recipes, speak with an NPC outside any major city. Stuffing and potatoes are easy enough to put in front of a fire, but if you want to cook a turkey, you'll need to catch one first. Un-sling your trusty Turkey Shooter and prepare for the hunt.

Locations
Major Cities (Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdom Only): Stormwind, Ironforge, Darnassus, Exodar, Orgrimmar, Undercity, Silvermoon City, and Thunderbluff

Minor Towns: Goldshire, Kharanos, Dolanaar, Azure Watch, Razor HIll, Bloodhoof Village, Brill, Tranquilien, Ruins of Thaurissan, Shadowprey Village, Falconwing Square, Stonard, Hammerfall, Revantusk Village, Light's Hope Chapel, Wildhammer Keep, Chilwind Camp, Southshore, Tarren Mill, Sepulcher

While we understand that this is a troubling time for Azeroth, we still encourage everyone -- perhaps while you're fleeing from those rampaging elementals -- to sit down and enjoy the holiday's tidings. Joystiq
Amazon has been offering downloads of casual games since last year, but has announced a new initiative today that will see its digital distribution offerings expanded. Now Amazon shoppers can purchase "more than 300 blockbuster titles" from EA, Ubisoft, Atari and Sega and to celebrate this new partnership, Amazon is offering deals on select titles from now through Thanksgiving -- including 33 percent savings on certain EA games now through Sunday, as well as 50 percent off more than 50 different core titles.

If you're hungry for more gaming deals, be sure to check out our Black Friday deal coverage here.
